2 MONTHS!!

My little man is two months old already. So far he smiles and can push himself up (see above pic). He is starting to coo and it's really cute hearing him. When he hears me or Casey talking he turns his head and his eyes will follow us. Pretty soon he's going to be moving, right now he just kicks his little legs. When he's on his stomach he tries to push himself forward with his legs. I know we still have several months until actual movement.

Cole's Birth Story

After making my first post I realized that I should have started at the beginning.

Casey and I found out that I was pregnant on January 11, 2008 and we were completely shocked. Eventually the shock wore off and reality started to set in, we were going to be parents. Scary! Casey really wanted a boy and I didn't really care, boy or girl was fine with me. Needless to say when we had our 3-D sonogram done and found out it was a boy he was really excited.

My due date was set for September 16, but after being pregnant all summer I was hoping for early September. When I went in for my weekly appointment on I was told that my blood pressure was high and they were going to keep an eye on it. I went in a couple days later and it was still pretty high. It was the Thursday before Labor Day weekend and the doctor wanted me to try and rest all weekend. My next appointment was the following Tuesday and she was planning on inducing that week. On Saturday I was feeling light headed and called my sister Jill. She was out of town, but said that when she got in town she would go to the hospital with me and get my blood pressure checked. I went to the hospital expecting them to tell me that it was all in my head and that I was fine. Instead the nurse admitted me for preeclampsia and started me on magnesium. I called Casey and told him that he better come to the hospital. They started me on pitocin on Sunday, but by that evening I still wasn't progressing. The doctor decided to try again on Monday. We started all over again on Monday morning and the doctor said that if he wasn't out by that afternoon we were going to have a c-section. By that time I didn't care what they did, I wanted him out. They had been taking my blood every four hours for the last two days. The doctor came in at 3:00 and broke my water and the labor really started. I got my epidural an hour later and was happy. I was dilated by 10:00 that evening and after pushing for 10 min. he was here!

Cole Matthew Jesseph was born at 10:33 p.m on September 1, 2008. He weighed 6lbs 13 oz and was 19 1/2 inches. Casey cut the cord and they laid him on my stomach, the first thing I said was "He's so small" and then I noticed that he looked just like Casey. The nurses gave him to Casey to take to the nursery. He carried him out like he was afraid of dropping him. It was really sweet to see the big smile on his face. We left the hospital on Wednesday, but had to keep bringing him back to get his biliruben checked. He had an appointment the following Monday and by then his biliruben levels were OK. So far everything has been going really well and he's growing.

Growing So Fast

Cole is growing so fast that I thought this would be the best way for everyone to keep up. Next Monday he will be two months, I can hardly believe it! When I was pregnant the months would just drag on and now they fly by. He has gone from looking at everyone with a blank stare to actually recognizing us. Right now he still isn't doing a whole lot, but I know that will change soon enough. He has started to smile but only a select few get the privilege to see that. Everyone else gets to see his serious face (I don't know where he gets that from). Hopefully he will lighten up and be more like his cousin Maddie, that girl is always happy. Maybe it's a boy vs. girl thing.
